Why are there some Catholic and Orthodox saints in the Quran?

Ok first of all there are and not like St.Peter and the Apostles but i mean like saints that did miracles and stuff. First of all doesn't a saint have to be catholic and like the Quran mentions them and changed the story. Like the Catholic church was 1000 years after the Quran was written.
