Why Would A Bank Reverse A Deposit?

Yesterday I went to my credit union and deposited a cashiers check from my father into my account. I know my father is good about the money, so it couldn't be something about that. I deposited the check via the teller. Everything was fine until later that night, I checked my account online and it said it was reversed. Any help onto why this would happen would be greatly appreciated.
