Why do Movies make Falling in love with someone such an easy feat ? How do I make that happen in my life ?

Hey folks so I was wondering , have you ever noticed how movies/tvshows make the idea of falling in love and being in a relationship such an easy thing to do? Sometimes it really gets on my nerves because in reality that's what almost never happens , at least in my life that is. I really like this guy who works as a teller at my local bank . He has been on my mind ever since I last spoke to him and I seriously want to ask him out . I have gone down there three times now to get some work down ( in actuality I made up some excuses to be there) but on all occasions he wasn't there and after inquiring with one of the other tellers I was told that he was sick and that he should be back sometime next week . Its just annoying that I get all worked up to go down there and he isn't there . If this was in the movies, it would involve someone telling the main character to "march down there and ask him/her out " well it ain't easy (-.-) anyone else have similar experiences or agree with what Im saying?
