Is it too early for my tulips to start shooting?

Mine are up too, it is just an early Spring going on here too. Mine are outside and are doing fine. Had a frost the other night and it didn't bother them at all. I have taken flowers and bulbs that were in containers and gathered them together and put a light top bedding sheet over them at night and taken it off around 8:00am for the rest of the day, repeated that until I knew any danger of frost would not get to them. At least, that is an option.
